Converting Drink into an Alcoholic Beverage at Home: Norwegian Startup Disrupting Alcoholic Beverages
BEVERAGES

Home brewing has long been associated with complex equipment and time-intensive processes. Jeasty, a Norwegian startup, has developed a patent pending system that simplifies brewing beer, wine, or cider at home. This invention allows consumers to convert Jesty's drink into an alcoholic beverage and control the fermentation process conveniently, using a compact and user-friendly container. The system offers a seamless solution for creating drinkable beverages while eliminating the need for traditional brewing equipment.
The essence of Jeasty’s invention lies in giving consumers the freedom to start the fermentation process whenever they choose. This is achieved through pre-filled containers—such as kegs, cans, or jugs—that hold pasteurized liquids free of yeast and bacteria. A unique yeast activation device integrated into the container’s lid allows the user to trigger fermentation. By adding yeast to the base liquid, such as wort (malt-based liquid) or must (fruit juice), consumers can transform these raw ingredients into finished beverages like beer, cider, or wine.
How It Works?
The container’s lid features a specialized opening where the ejector, with its yeast-filled cartridge, is inserted.
The ejector is activated by pushing a plunger, which injects the yeast into the liquid. The fermentation process begins immediately, transforming the liquid over 3-5 days.
Post-fermentation, the container is chilled for two days to clarify the beverage and allow yeast sediment to settle.
After seven days, the drink is ready for consumption, offering a quick and efficient brewing experience.
Jeasty’s system offers numerous advantages. It is incredibly user-friendly, requiring no brewing expertise or additional equipment. The fermentation process is swift, with some beverages ready in as little as three days. The pressure fermentation not only speeds up the process but also produces sufficient carbonation, eliminating the need for external CO₂ additions. Furthermore, the sealed system, combined with pasteurization, ensures a bacteria-free environment. Additionally, Jeasty’s approach is sustainable, utilizing recyclable materials and minimizing environmental impact.
In practice, a 5-liter aluminum keg made with over 50% recycled material could be pre-filled with wort brewed at a recognized brewery. The keg is sealed with the yeast injector and pressure relief valve. At home, the consumer injects the yeast, starts the fermentation process, and waits a few days for the transformation. After fermentation, the container is chilled for two days to clarify the beverage and allow yeast sediment to settle. Within seven days, the drink is ready to be enjoyed.
This innovation also enables customization, allowing users to experiment with different fruit juices or malt compositions to create unique flavors. The flexibility and ease of Jeasty’s system make it appealing to both casual drinkers and home brewing enthusiasts. It opens up new possibilities for consumer-driven beverage customization, making the art of brewing accessible to everyone. With this invention, Jeasty not only redefines the brewing process but also brings the experience of a brewery into the comfort of one’s home.
